Plitvice Lakes

Plitvice Lakes - National Park in Croatia, located in the central part of the country. Picturesque lakes and waterfalls, dams and thickets, forest and rocks - all this attracts the heart of Croatian photographers from around the world.

It is interesting that the construction of footpaths began in 1958. Up to this point the park was closed to visitors. According to UNESCO, the territory of the park is 19,479 hectares, includes 16 large and several smaller karst cascading lakes, 140 waterfalls, 20 caves, beech and pine forest. The highest point - Mount Mala Kapela (1280 m). April 8, 1949 received the status of the Plitvice Lakes National Park, and in 1979 the national park "Plitvice Lakes" is included in the register of "World Heritage" by UNESCO.
