Coopers Hawk (Accipiter cooperii)

I have been seeing a lot of these wonderful looking hawks around lately creating havoc in my neighborhood and many places I go and bird. With a diet primarily of birds and song birds in particular they are usually shunned by most people for stalking out and eating there favorite birds from there backyard feeders.
Going back to the spring/summer of 2006 or 2007 I stumbled upon a nesting pair of Coopers Hawks  and followed the up-bringing  of their 6 chicks. It was quite fascinating watching the interactions of the parent birds  and their kids' hunting flops to their hunting fortunes. ( which by the way doesn't take long to hone their
hunting skills when they fledge). These birds are sneaky and extremely efficient killing machines. When those red eyes lock onto their victim the usually succeed . Here are some old pics taken from this interaction.
